In 2006, her Tar Heels made the Final Four and Hatchell was named the Associated Press's Coach of the Year. She was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2004. She lives in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Jeff Thomas has coached girls' basketball for 16 years at the youth, high school, and Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) levels. A long-time writer, he lives in Richmond, Virginia.
