Food and Agriculture Organization, World Health Organization, Union of International Engineering Organizations and other governmental and non-governmental organizations. The purpose of this symposium was to bring all the main scientific disciplines to bear on irrigation in arid lands, especially on the environmental problems and with emphasis on developing countries. In this book the emphasis is placed on how to get the best out of the potential benefits of irrigation and to ensure their permanence, as well as how to overcome to detrimental effects on the environment and on man himself. Ex-libris - has a sold stamp in the front of the book and associated library stamps inside, as well as it's catalogue number taped to the spine. Shows signs of shelf wear and discolouration from age and sun bleaching. Shows signs of historic water damage to the tops of the pages but does not affect the inner pages.
