Published in the late 80s, it is an insightful and intelligently written account of the conflicts and pressures facing military personnel and their families in the UK. The book is interesting both from a historical perspective, written just after the Falklands and when the Cold War was still cool-ish, and from a universal perspective. Although the source material is 30 years old, many of the issues are still relevant to today.
