Hardcover. Etat : Very Good. 1st Edition. W. P. D. Wightman's Science in a Renaissance Society examines the development of science within the broader intellectual, cultural, and social world of the Renaissance. Rather than treating scientific development in isolation, Wightman places it within the changing intellectual environment of Renaissance Europe, making the volume useful for students and collectors interested in the history of science, Renaissance studies, and the development of early modern scientific thought. Published in London by Hutchinson University Library in 1972. First edition hardcover, 191 pages, with bibliography and index. The bibliography occupies pages 175-183. Condition: Very Good. Original green cloth boards remain clean and attractive, showing only light shelf wear and a few small surface marks consistent with age. Gilt spine lettering remains bright and clearly legible. Minor wear is present at the spine ends and extremities. Page edges show mild age toning. Title page is clean in the supplied photographs, with no ownership inscription or institutional markings visible. Binding appears sound. No dust jacket present. Please refer to photographs for additional condition detail. Wightman was a historian and philosopher of science associated with the University of Aberdeen, where he taught history and philosophy of science. This late work reflects his longstanding scholarship on Renaissance science and the historical development of scientific ideas. The title remains cited in scholarship concerning the relationship between Renaissance science, society, and intellectual culture. Ships carefully packed and protected. USPS Media Mail is the standard domestic shipping method; expedited shipping may be available upon request. Returns accepted in accordance with AbeBooks' return policy. SCI 2b.
