Synopsis
Polly and Jack's parents accept that they can't afford to run the family antiques shop any more and cranky Mr Fowler decides he's going to buy the shop to expand his restaurant. Polly and Jack hate the thought of parting with all their favourite things, especially the bear and the water buffalo's head. But at the eleventh hour the shop is saved in the MOST unusual way. . . . .

Posy Simmonds is the author of many books for adults and children, including Gemma Bovery, Lulu and the Flying Babies and Fred, the film of which was nominated for an Oscar. She has won international awards for her work, including the Grand Prix 2009 de la Critique Bande Dessiné for Tamara Drewe. Both Gemma Bovery and Tamara Drewe have been made into successful feature films. She lives in
London.

Jack and Polly live happily above their parents antique shop where spiders, moths, woodworm, and dust nestle amongst the bric-a-brac. When they are faced with losing their arch enemy, the horrible Mr Fowler, the children realise what they will miss - the tiger-skin rug, the old gramophone and piles of records, the jar with the strange smell, and especially the water buffalo's head with the wonky horn.
