At the age of five and a half, Joseph Buffalo Stuart died of a very rare form of cancer, a Wilms tumour. Three lives - his own and those of his parents, Ann and Alexander - were enmeshed in those years, years of great pleasure and pain, joy and sadness. Supreme courage and a desire for others to share the understanding they all reached has prompted this account. A harrowing, moving and honest accoutn of parents coming to terms with a child's untimely death.
