Synopsis
Phigs is a standard language for graphics programming which has emerged as the successor to the previous market leader and ISO standard - GKS. Phigs (which stands for Programmer's Hierarchical Interactive Graphics System) is a graphics system supporting both output of graphical data to a drawing surface, and graphical input. Phigs+ is an extension to Phigs, covering advanced primitives such as curves and surfaces, as well as rendering, such as lighting, shading and depth cuing. This introduction to the language of Phigs is also a practical guide on how to get the best out of it. The text covers the anatomy of PHIGS program and covers such subjects as modelling transformations and PHIGS+ output.
