Peter Stafford has been involved with herpetological field research in Belize since 1988, where much of his work has focused on the little known Maya Mountains. His principal interest concerns the natural history of reptiles, particularly snakes. He has written widely on the subject of herpetology, including several scientific papers and a recently co-authored book on Neutropical boas, and serves as a council member of the British Herpetological Society. His studies in Belize are ongoing. John Meyer is a research herpetologist and biogeographer who has a long-standing affiliation with Central American herpetology. Among his numerous publications he is credited with having written many scientific papers on Mexican and Central American reptiles and amphibians. He co-authored the comprehensive Snakes of Honduras, and is co-author of a recently published Guide to the Frogs and Toads of Belize. He currently coordinates the Maya Forest Anuran Monitoring Project (MAYAMON) in this region.
