This well-known text has been fully updated to conform to the 1999 Load and Resistance Factor (LRFD) Design Specification and to the 2001 edition of the LRFD Manual of Steel Construction. A problem-solving software package, included with each book, contains practical applications and enables students to better understand the relationship between analysis and design.

It is primarily intended for a three-credit course for junior or senior undergraduates in civil engineering, building science, architectural engineering, or architecture. The material is presented in an easy-to-read student-friendly style.

- Includes approximately 500 homework problems. These have been revised, expanded, and updated from the previous edition.
- INSTEP32 computer software included. Helps students electronically solve many of ,the design problems presented in the text
- A new chapter entitled "Design of Steel Building Systems" has been added. As a part of this chapter, the nationally used commercial software package SAP2000 is introduced and used. A student version of the software is included with the textbook.
Biographie de l'auteur
Jack McCormac is Alumni Professor of Civil Engineering, Emeritus at Clemson University. He is the author of numerous textbooks in the field of civil engineering. His contributions to engineering education and the engineering profession have been recognized by many including the American Society for Engineering Education and the American Institute of Steel Construction. Professor McCormac belongs to the American Society of Civil Engineers and served as the principal civil engineering grader for the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying.
