Synopsis

For use in classes on Environmental Science, Environmental Geology, Physical Geology, Physical Geography and Earth Science.

VR Excursions uses advanced interactive technology to give students access to a variety of complex environments (a nuclear waste disposal site, a coal-fired power plant, and a solid waste landfill site). These virtual environments are rich enough that they can be tailored to professor's individual course goals or they can be used with the accompanying lab manual and Instructor's Manual as a turn-key method of using the computer to give students “hands-on” field experience in the Earth and environmental sciences.

Quatrième de couverture

The VR Excursions CD-ROM/Laboratory Manual Pack offers students "virtual reality" access to the field sites that are defining the study of the earth today - but which are too often inaccessible because of time, cost, or even physical danger. Developed through an NSF grant VR Excursions contains an electronic technical reference library and three complete simulated environments - a nuclear waste disposal site, a coal-fired power plant, and a solid-waste landfill. Designed to replicate the field experience as closely as possible, VR Excursions enables you to:

  • Investigate the sites firsthand
  • Collect data and samples
  • Analyze and interpret results
  • Recommend a course of action
