Jeri Carroll is Professor of Elementary and Early Childhood Education at Wichita State University where she has been teaching for 19 years. Jeri has degrees in music education, elementary education, and early childhood education and 15 years of public school teaching experience and is presently the curriculum resource specialist on WSU's PT3 grant, Models, Mentors, and Mobility: Project M3. She enjoys her family (stepson, wife, and grandson and her two girls), friends, and traveling.
While in the first year of the grant, Jeri met Tonya Witherspoon when she needed help setting up a Web site for the grant's first major project, Technology Integration Projects for Students (TIPS). What Jeri didn't realize was how much more she needed Tonya than as a Web master. It wasn't long before Tonya and Jeri began working as a team on many projects they undertook: Jeri's education classes where Tonya helped with technology, or Tonya's technology classes where Jeri helped with curriculum, each seeking and valuing the other's input.
Tonya Witherspoon is the Web master for WSU's Project M3. She has worked with technology for the past 15 years, the past 10 of them in various schools as a volunteer and consultant. She has expertise in technology hardware and software, programming, and design. Her family has representatives in all school levels: preschool (one daughter) elementary school (two boys), middle schools (two boys), high school (her husband Steve is chair of the social studies department for the IB program at East High School in Wichita), and the university where Tonya is completing her general studies degree with an emphasis in computing technology and telecommunications.
This book is an example of a curriculum specialist and a technology specialist collaborating as a team, working, learning, and creating together.
