A substantial and wide-ranging reference in applied mathematics, this book was written with engineering students in mind and covers an impressive breadth of material, including real variable theory, complex variables, linear analysis, ordinary and partial differential equations, Fourier and Laplace transforms, vector field theory, calculus of variations, perturbation techniques, Green's functions, and finite-difference methods. The 1978 edition runs 636 pages. The book has remained a useful reference well beyond its original publication. The Mathematical Association of America has described it as a comprehensive text suitable for advanced undergraduates and first-year graduate students in engineering, noting its crisp, clear style and tightly organized exposition. Condition: Very Good. The book is clean and well preserved, with a small, neatly written ex-libris (ownership inscription) on the front free endpaper.
