Synopsis
The Prentice Hall Essence of Engineering Series provides a concise, practical and uniform introduction to the core components of an undergraduate Engineering degree. Acknowledging recent changes within higher education, this approach uses a variety of pedagogical tools - case studies, worked examples and self-test questions - to underpin the student's learning. The Essence of Communication Theory provides the reader with everything that they need to know about communications theory in one concise volume. Easily accessible to students, the approach limits the level of mathematics to only as much as is necessary to support the communications theory. More complex mathematics are introduced in a series of easily assimilated steps. This text adopts a modern approach throughout, introducing digital signal processing including convolution, and devotes a whole chapter to Digital Transmission to address the now pervasive requirements of a "digital world".
