Synopsis
Despite his material wealth, Joseph Shapiro feels spiritually impoverished. When he finds that both his wife and mistress have been unfaithful, he reaches a crisis. He resolves to cut himself off from the self-seeking modern world and rediscover the Jewishness of his ancestors.
