Synopsis
The discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls in the Judaean desert between 1947 and 1956 transformed our understanding of the Hebrew Bible, early Judaism and the origins of Christianity. Following the release of all Scroll texts to scholars in 1991, THE COMPLETE DEAD SEA SCROLLS IN ENGLISH is the first complete translation, with fine introductory chapters describing the historical, cultural and religious background to the Scrolls. À propos de l'auteur
Geza Vermes is Professor Emeritus of Jewish Studies at Oxford University. He has been director of the Forum for Qumran Research at the Oxford Centre for Hebrew and Jewish Studies since 1991.
