THE PENGUIN BOOK OF ART WRITING is the first book to bring together the very best writing on art, from the early Renaissance to the present day. Discussing the visual arts successfully in words is famously difficult, yet over the centuries manywriters have managed to put the inexpressible into words. This serious yet witty collection values vivid prose and readability over dry analysis. It features a a huge range of writers, from Vasari to Robert Hughes, Henry James to Francis Bacon, Sigmund Freud to Patrick Heron.
