Synopsis

Politicians' words often come back to haunt them. From gaffes and double entendres to sheer lies, this book is a treasure trove of inappropriate comment,eg: "There's a whole range of things we're doing with condoms" Norman Fowler, Health Minister, 1987 "This is a great day for France" Richard Nixon at President Pompidou's funeral. "A howlingly funny book which records some of the low points in soundbite society." TLS "Not just a catalogue of obvious howlers...also explores political mendacityin all its subtle manifestations". Sunday Telegraph
