Synopsis

Predators have to be quick. If they are to survive, so do their prey. So predators also have to be smart. In this fascinating account of the struggles between predator and prey, Christopher McGowan explores the offensive and defensive strategies of a broad range of organisms, from acacia trees and potato plants to wasps and killer whales; from reptiles and raptors to scorpions and dinosaurs. 'Analysed in a style that makes for compulsive reading...a thoroughly enjoyable popular account, written for the reader who likes something meatier than a TV wildlife spectacular' - John Turner, Nature 'An excellent writer and natural historian' - John Fowles
