Sheila Rowbotham's wryly humerous and honest memoir about growing up in the 'sixties was universally praised by critics when published in hardcover. It contains all the sex, drugs and rock-and-roll that you'd expect from the period. But Sheila writes with charm and candour to reveal a more complex cultural moment that proved to be such a break from the first fifty years of the century. As Julie Christie said, 'If you want to know what the sixties were like, read this book'.
