Synopsis

Monkey and Pigsy are chosen by the goddess Kuan-Yin to protect Tripitaka, a gentle scholar who has the task of fetching the Buddhist scriptures from India and bring them back to China. On the way they have to cross a deep river that is terrorized bya fearsome dragon who captures Tripitaka and imprisons him in a stone chest underwater. Monkey and Pigsy, with the help of the Goddess Kuan-Yin, save Tripitaka and continue on their journey. (The Monkey stories were originally written in China by Wu Ch'eng-en, in the 16th century.)
