American-born Lane Smith is known for illustrating works by authors such as Dr. Seuss, Roald Dahl and George Saunders. He is a four-time recipient of the New York Times Best Illustrated Book award, and in 2014 he received the Society of Illustrators' Lifetime Achievement award.
