American-born Lane Smith is known for illustrating works by authors such as Dr. Seuss, Roald Dahl and George Saunders. He received the Caldecott Medal for his Grandpa Green in 2012, while his 2010 It's a Book was a New York Times bestseller for over six months and was translated into over twenty-five languages. He is a four-time recipient of the New York Times Best Illustrated Book award, and in 2014 he received the Society of Illustrators' Lifetime Achievement award.
