Dr Watson once again opens his portfolio to reveal eight strange cases solved by the keen intellect of the master detective. They range from murder and kidnapping to theft and treachery - though on one occasion it is Holmes and Watson who commit the crime of burglery. And finally, when Britain is on the eve of the Great War, Holmes comes out of retirement, leaving his books and his bees. He changes the course of history and takes His Last Bow ...

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was born in Edinburgh in 1859 and died in 1930. Within those years was crowded a variety of activities and creative work that made him an international figure and inspired the French to give him the epithet of 'the good giant'. His greatest achievement was, of course, his creation of Sherlock Holmes, who soon attained international status and constantly decoyed his creator from his other work.

Paperback. Etat : Good. No Jacket. Paperback in Good Condition. Clean wraps with whisper of wear to edges. Pages clean with some bracketed and underlined text and a few noted in margins. "His Last Bow" was first published in 1917. Due to Sherlock Holmes' much deserved retirement, "His Last Bow" is primarily a collection of previous experiences which have lain long in [Watson's] portfolio. The eight tales are some of the most stimulating of Holmes' many adventures. In "The Adventures of the Bruce Partington Plans", a young government worker is found dead on the train tracks with seven pages of plans for a top secret submarine in his pocket. The other three pages-the most important ones- are missing. The fate of Britain is at stake and Holmes is the only man for the job. And there is "The Adventure of the Devil's Foot", in which Holmes' quiet retreat in Cornwall is shattered by an inexplicable incident that leaves a woman dead and her two brothers struck mad. And other like adventures.198 pages. 4.25 x 7.25 inches. 1997, Penguin Books, London, England. N° de réf. du vendeur 025355
