Synopsis

Billy comes from a strong family. His mum drives a cement lorry, his dad is a bouncer and his sister is a junior weight lifter. But Billy is spindly, like a stick insect, and prefers inventing things on his computer to taking exercise. When Killer Karl, the school bully, starts to make trouble, Billy decides it's time to think of a plan. He invents a magic conker formula on his computer and challenges Killer Karl to a conker fight. As Karl's conker splits into a hundred pieces, Billy is declared the winner and becomes popular overnight.

Wendy Smith trained as a designer at Hornsea School of Art and later took an MA in illustration at the Royal College of Art. She contributes regularly to magazines as a freelance illustrator, and lectures at Maidstone Art College. Wendy lives in North London.
