A tight, clean, sound copy in green paper covered boards quarter bound in black cloth with silver lettering and graphics on the spine and a large silver graphic on the front with very minor overall shelf wear plus there are the usual library stamps and label on the front freepaper, title page, and top outside paper edges plus the front endpaper has been removed as part of the library's withdrawal process plus there is some light tape staining on the outside surfaces of the boards from where the dust jacket endflaps were taped down to the boards. The dust jacket shows very, very minor overall shelf wear plus there is the usual library label on the spine plus it is still in the original library mylar sleeve. Translated from the German. With an afterword by Leonard Forster. The story is set in 1647. The 30 Years' War is drawing to a close and a group of poets from all parts of Germany gathered togethe for the purpose of strengthening the last remaining bond within a divided nation: its language and literature. The author sets this fictitious meeting in parallel with a real meeting of German poets and writers, known as Group 47 at the end of World War II.
