Although not marked with his usual signature/inscription, this book is one of twenty or so mathematical puzzle books purchased from the estate of Dr. James L. Howell (1917-2002) who earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama and his Ph.D. in mathematics from Yale University. After teaching stints at Lehigh University, University of Georgia, and University of Delaware, Dr. Howell was professor of mathematics at the University of Alabama from 1966 until 2002.
