This volume is an anthology of writings in Western philosophy in print. Spanning 2500 years of thought, from Thales (585 BC) to John Rawls (present day), the work is suitable as an introduction to philosophy and history of philosophy courses. Over 75 works (23 of them whole) by 42 philosophers are included, offering students an extensive and economical collection of the major works of the Western tradition. The editor has written introductions to each of the philosophers featured.
