"Structured chaos" refers to the authors' call for a new arrangement for Australian economic and social organization--one which evolves out of shared objectives and free economic exchanges. In order to raise the Australian standard of living and rate of productivity advance they recommend deregulation, promoting "contestable" market structures, decentralizing decision-making within production units, and building "bottom up" organizations that emphasize employee participation.
