This text is a new way of looking at the sociology of deviance. It takes seriously the argument for the death of deviance, and reasons it is more useful to talk about 'rules' and 'rule-breakers'. It makes links between the ideas of deviance and rule-breaking to future professional lives of students. It shows the contemporary relevance of this area and includes topical examples such as terrorism, anorexia, paedophilia, female sexual dysfunction and depression.
