Synopsis

The papers included in this volume represent a series of contributions on the history of urbanization. Offering an instructive discussion of fundamental concepts, processes and measurement problems, the introduction summarizes findings in latest research and goes on to detect new topics, currently of particular interest which are reflected in the choice of contributions to the volume.
