The issue of electromagnetic compatibility is becoming more important as a consequence of the widespread use of electronics in functions requiring very high degrees of reliability. Examples range from fly-by-wire aircraft to ignition, fuel injection and braking systems of modern cars. These electronic systems have to be proof against both natural disturbances (lightning) and man-made disturbances (power transmission lines, TV masts, etc). This book describes interference sources and determines the interference fields radiated; considers modes of coupling between the disturbance and the system in question on qualitative and quantitative levels; and outlines the simulation and test procedures necessary to develop protective techniques.
