This is the largest selection of Stoic philosopher and tragedian Seneca's letters currently available. In them Seneca advises his friend Lucilius on how to do without what is superfluous, whether on the subject of happiness, riches, reputation, or the emotions. À propos de l'auteur
Elaine Fantham is the author of Women in the Classical World: image and text (OUP, 1994) and The Roman World of Cicero De Oratore (OUP, 2004). For OWC she has introduced Virgil's Georgics and Ahl's translation of the Aeneid.
