Dr. Susan Kinsella is the Department Chair for Human Services and Professor in the School of Education and Social Services at Saint Leo University. She has 30 years of teaching and administrative experience in higher education, where she developed programs in Human Services and taught in undergraduate and graduate schools of social work and human services in Pennsylvania, Florida, and Georgia. Her work on a military campus involved her in service learning projects with her students as well as research and publications on services for military families. Dr. Kinsella has expertise in the child welfare field where she practiced and administered a child welfare program in Pennsylvania. Her specialization is in clincial work with children and families. She teaches coursework in Child Welfare, Group Dynamics, and Interpersonal Helping Skills among others. Her enthusiasm for teaching earned her the Outstanding College Professor Award. She has authored several articles in professional journals on such topics as services to the military, university/community partnerships in education, traditonal and nontraditional college students, quality day care, competency of child welfare workers, and service learning opportunties in Human Services. She has served on editiorial boards, reviewed books and journals, developed curriculum materials for publishers and has been an invited speaker for the Georgia Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers and the Georgia School Social Workers Association. Susan has a Ph.D. in Social Welfare from Fordham University and an MSW from Marywood University. Dr. Kinsella has been active in the Southern Organization for Human Services and the National Organization for Human Services and is currently a self-study reader for the Council on Standards in Human Services Education. She is a board member and Chancellor of the Southeast Region for Pi Gamma Mu, the International Honor Society, and is proud to be HS-BCP certified.
