British first edition (per "First published . . ." statement upon copyright page). xii, 404 pages. Hardcover: H 24cm x L 16cm. Dust jacket rubbed with some chipping, several tears, and obtrusive creasing; front flap retains publisher's printed price at bottom right; dj now presented in a mylar Brodart protector. Slate boards with red and silver stamping to spine. Red top edge; fore-edge and bottom edge have a few small stains which fractionally affect a few leaves at margins; past owner's ink signature at top of front free endpaper; interior pages are otherwise clean. Binding is firm. Else a very good+ copy in only a good dust jacket. With endpaper maps, b/w plates on unpaged leaves including frontispiece, and foldout map tipped-in between page 404 and rfep.
