Paperback. Etat : Very Good. First U.K. Edition. yellow/gold titles spine; "this study edition of 'Catholicism' not only provides additional features not found in the trade edition, such as discussion questions, a more detailed table of contents, and suggestions for use in various educational settings, but also introduces some changes in the text itself. Readers who carefully compare the study edition with the original two-volume work will note some clarifications regarding, for example, theological dissent, the virginal conception of Jesus, Baptism, ordination, the papacy, and some moral issues. The changes do not constitute a full-scale revision, however. Rather, they represent an editing process designed to eliminate, as far as possible, any residual ambiguity about certain matters of doctrine. These textual modifications only reinforce the author's abiding concern to present the material in an even-handed, objective manner, and in a way that does not leave the reader in any doubt about the content of Catholic doctrine. Contrary to the observations of some, this book does not propose a pick-and-choose approach to Catholic doctrine, as if one could arbitrarily decide to follow a particular theological opinion about the divinity of Jesus Christ or homosexuality, for example, even when such an opinion is clearly at odds with the councils of the Church or its ordinary magisterium. Neither do I suggest, on the other hand, that every contrary opinion is always to be regarded all in error."; a sound & well-bound copy of this thick paperback though with a few creases to covers & splash marks (possibly tea?) to edges & top outer corners of pages but not affecting text; including index - 1,290 pages.
