Bernard Filipow (1944-) was born in Niagara Falls, Canada, and studied English Literature at St. Dunstan's University and Dalhousie University, where he also received his law degree. He currently resides with his wife, Judith Tokar, in Old Town Niagara-on-the-Lake. The cover is a painting by the author's granddaughter, Peyton Taylor Filipow, entitled "The Blue Tortoise."
