I was born and raised on Vancouver Island and I now reside on Salt Spring Island, where I love to hike and tend to my garden. I am a mother of three: Emmi, Eli, and Riley. Sharing the message in this book is so important to me to honour my son Eli but also to bring a voice to families who have experienced child loss in any way. At the time when my brother died from SIDS in 1985, it was not something people really talked about, and many people grieved alone in silence. When my son Eli died in 2020, I felt called to grieve openly and to share my story. Speaking openly about my loss was helpful in my grieving process and has helped other families feel less alone. If this book reaches you, I am sorry for your loss. Know that you are not alone.
