AMICHAI MAGEN is W. Glenn Campbell National Fellow, Hoover Institution, and Lecturer in Law, Stanford Law School, USA. His work focuses on international and EU law, democracy, the rule of law, and external influence on domestic democratic development. He is the co-editor (with Leonard Morlino) of International Actors, Democratization and the Rule of Law: Anchoring Democracy? THOMAS RISSE is Professor of International Politics at the Freie Universitat Berlin, Germany. He is coordinator of the Research Center 'Governance in Areas of Limited Statehood' and of the Research College 'The Transformative Power of Europe', both funded by the German Research Foundation. His research interests include international relations theories, European integration, and transatlantic relations. MICHAEL A. MCFAUL is the Peter and Helen Bing Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution, Professor of Political Science, and Director of the Center on Democracy, Development, and Rule of Law, all at Stanford University, USA. He is also a non-resident Senior Associate at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.
