Hardcover. Etat : Good. Etat de la jaquette : Poor. Jacket and illustrations by Lynette Hemmant (illustrateur). Reprint. First published in 1966, this is a Hamish Hamilton / Antelope Books edition of 1974. Ex library with usual stamps and defects, including largely orange jacket laminated firmly to boards, however including flaps (which they don't always). Some edge wear to top and bottom of book and spine, corners slightly rubbed, spine faded, some spotting to page fore edges, not price clipped (50p), previous owner's name to top ffep no other personal inscriptions, slight lean, overall a reasonable copy for its age and ex library. 86pp. The Pullein-Thompson sisters Josephine Pullein-Thompson (1924-2014), Diana Pullein-Thompson (1925-2015), and Christine Pullein-Thompson (1925-2005). The three sisters, brought up in rural post WW1 Britain, were prolific writers, known mainly for their pony books, mostly fictional, aimed at children and mostly popular with girls. They started at a very young age, initially writing collectively, and they were at their peak in the 1950s and 1960s, but their popularity has endured. Quite a scarce book.
