It will be seen that this aim has influenced the form and arrangement of the histories. But although the matter is thrown into the form of a history, I have really approached the subject from the point of view of the architect, the constructor. It faUs to the luck of few of us in these days to make important discoveries in the well-trodden ground of cathedral history. We are obliged to use the facts of others.
