Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book is a theological exploration of the problem of human destiny. It is a work of revisionist theology, examining the doctrine of eternal punishment and other traditional beliefs in light of modern theological thought. The author begins by outlining the magnitude of the problem - that there has never been a universally accepted answer to what happens after we die and where the human race is ultimately headed. The book takes a rational approach to the topic, combining insights from philosophy, science, and religion. The author argues that a better understanding of the problem can be found by re-examining the historic creeds and some of the traditional beliefs of the Christian Church. They posit that any solution to the problem necessitates a re-examination and careful revision of the historic Creeds, and some of the traditional beliefs of the Christian Church. As the Creeds stand today, the problem is already solved, but the author argues that the heart of man, apart from creedal dogma, has more or less revolted against so awful a conclusion, which it cannot reconcile with the love and justice of God. To many minds the very idea of such a revisal suggests a rejection of the Bible, the putting of dishonor upon Jesus Christ, and a meandering into bypaths of heresy.
