Sie widmete sich vor allem dem Kampf gegen patriarchalische Strukturen im Bildungssystem, in denen sie die Hauptursache für die wirtschaftliche Unterdrückung der Frau sah. In ihrer im späten 19. Jahrhundert veröffentlichten Studie vergleicht Lange die Entwicklung der Frauenbildung in Deutschland und in England und geht der Frage nach, inwiefern die Erfolge der englischen Frauenbewegung als Vorbild dafür dienen können, die Bildungschancen deutscher Frauen nachhaltig zu verbessern.
