Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book examines the history of Arlon, a town in Belgium, from its origins to the present day. The author draws on a variety of sources, including archaeological evidence, historical records, and literary texts, to provide a comprehensive account of the towns development. The book begins by discussing the town's Celtic and Roman origins. The author argues that Arlon was founded by the Celts in the 5th century BC and was originally known as Orolaunum. The town was later conquered by the Romans in the 1st century BC and became an important centre of Roman administration. The book goes on to trace the history of Arlon through the Middle Ages and the early modern period. The town was a major centre of trade and commerce during the Middle Ages and was home to a number of important religious institutions. In the 16th century, Arlon was incorporated into the Spanish Netherlands and became a centre of Spanish rule. The book concludes by discussing the history of Arlon in the 19th and 20th centuries. The town was a major centre of industry during the 19th century and was home to a number of important factories and workshops. In the 20th century, Arlon was occupied by Germany during World War II and suffered significant damage. The town was rebuilt after the war and is now a thriving commercial and cultural centre. This book is a valuable resource for anyone interested in the history of Arlon. The author provides a comprehensive and engaging account of the towns development, drawing on a wide range of sources to provide a rich and detailed picture of its past.
