Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book presents a method for determining the volume of blood and plasma in the human body. The method is simple, accurate, and can be repeatedly applied without injury to the patient. The author has used this method to study blood and plasma volume in a variety of clinical conditions, including pregnancy, obesity, anemia, polycythemia, diabetes, myocardial insufficiency, hypertension, and chronic nephritis. The results of these studies have provided new insights into the role of blood volume in these conditions. For example, the author has found that the blood volume is increased in pregnancy and decreased in obesity. The author has also found that there is no relationship between blood volume and hypertension. This finding suggests that hypertension is not caused by an increase in blood volume. The author's findings have important implications for the diagnosis and treatment of these conditions.
