This little publication was made for a particular child, but the public is welcome to the use of it. It was found that, amidst the multitude of books professedly written for children, there is not one adapted to the comprehension of a child from two to three years old. A grave remark, or a connected story, however simple, is above his capacity ;and nonsense is always below it; for Folly is worse than I gnorance. A nother great defect is the want of good paper, a clear Jand large type, and large spaces. Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book is a collection of short, simple lessons written to introduce young children aged three or four to basic language, concepts, and ideas. The author, writing in the late 18th century, believed that the public was lacking in suitable resources to meet the educational needs of pre-readers. This book was the first of its kind, specifically written to teach foundational concepts to the very young. The lessons cover a wide range of topics, from recognizing the letters in the alphabet to understanding the basics of time, arithmetic, and natural science. Through its exploration of manners, morals, and social interactions, the author also touched on early childhood development and the importance of parental involvement in nurturing young minds. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
