Bookplate of Hugh (Vercingetorix) Brogan (1936 Ð 2019) British historian and biographer, showing nude youth holding a book. He was Professor of History at University of Essex and wrote Brian O'Nolan (1911-1966) aka Flann O'Brien and Myles Na Gopaleen (also spelt gCopaleen) Irish novelist, playwright and satirist wrote short columns for the Irish Times and was an avid letter writer to the Irish Times and the Irish Independent and creator of multiple pseudonyms. 'An Bal Bocht', O'Brien's celebrated satirical novel was first published in the Irish language in 1941, causing outrage amongst those who saw themselves as the custodians of Irish language and tradition. Ralph Steadman (born 1936) is an illustrator renowned for his political and social caricatures, cartoons and picture books. About fine in fine dust jacket very slightly sunned at spine.
