When verbs express motion, the usage of infinitive often reflects its primitive, more concrete meaning of purpose. Such constructions also appeared after auxiliary verbs, verbs of wishing, ability, and knowledge; this can be appreciated especially in verbs of influence or emotion such as permitto, veto, rogo, and impero.
