Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book is a record of international discussions on metric and monetary systems held at the 1878 Paris Universal Exposition. The text contains historical accounts, contemporary geopolitical contexts, and reflections on the slow implementation of the universally recognized metric system, which was formally adopted in France in 1799. It also includes discussions on whether the metric system should be used in combination with existing local systems, or as the sole official system. The author highlights the challenges of such widespread adoption, while also recognizing the major progress that had been made since the previous Universal Exposition in 1867. In the wake of major advances made by the International Committee for Weights and Measures, this book captures a pivotal moment in the standardization of weights and monetary systems towards the end of the 19th century. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. N de rf. du vendeur 9780259374930_0
