Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book, a rich collection of medieval documents, presents a vibrant glimpse into the legal and social customs of the Frankish kingdom during the 6th and 7th centuries. The texts, a diverse assemblage of royal constitutions, ecclesiastical canons, and regional council protocols, offer a firsthand account of how laws were made, enforced, and interpreted in a society still wrestling with the legacy of Roman law and the influence of Germanic custom. The documents explore concepts of justice, punishment, and social order, reflecting the complex interplay between secular and religious authority in this early medieval kingdom. The decrees and canons provide profound insights into the legal, social, and religious landscape of the Frankish realm, allowing readers to delve into the complexities of a society in transition.
