Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book is a critical edition of the Chronicon Sublacense, a Latin chronicle that recounts the history of the Subiaco monastery from its foundation by Saint Benedict in the 6th century to around 1369. The Chronicon is one of the most valuable sources for the history of the monastery and the Benedictine order in general, and this new critical edition, based on a thorough examination of the surviving manuscripts, provides a reliable and up-to-date text. The introduction discusses the history of the text and its transmission, the identity of the author(s), and the date of composition. The critical apparatus provides detailed information about the variants in the manuscripts. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. N de rf. du vendeur 9780259837909_0
